A first glimpse into Lumion 2024
Experiment with light, color, and shadows in real time with the next Lumion release
Just around the corner
At the end of last year, we took you behind the scenes and showed you just how much there was to look forward to in 2024. We asked our CEO, Thomas Soenderby, and our co-founder and Head of Research, Remko Jacobs, to talk us through their vision for the year ahead and share some invaluable insights into what the development team has been working on.
It’s almost time to see some of those hinted-at features and enhancements become a reality. While it’s not quite time to reveal everything that’s coming your way, we do want to shed some light on one enchanting aspect of Lumion 2024. Are you ready to see the world in full color?
Cast colorful ambiance
Light. Color. Texture. As an architect, you'll know that often the smallest details can make the biggest impression.
A colored shadow, cast from a tinted pane, has the power to completely transform the ambiance of a space. It introduces unparalleled visual depth, creates dynamic patterns, and redefines the perception of materials.
Depending on the glass's colors, its shadows can infuse a room with warmth, tranquility, or vibrancy, profoundly altering the overall atmosphere and aesthetic appeal in an instant.
Lumion 2024 will accelerate your creative process, providing all the tools you need to craft atmospheres as vivid as your imagination. You can paint with light, tell stories with shadows, and evoke emotions with color – all with minimal effort. By combining ray tracing with tinted glass materials, you'll witness authentic colored shadows instantly appearing in your scenes, dancing across surfaces as light flows into the room.
Elevating the ray tracing experience
Colored glass shadows are just the beginning. Lumion 2024 will introduce a host of new additions, many of which will focus on improving the power and capabilities of the ray tracing effect. Stay tuned to discover what else is in store.
If you want a more in-depth look at what we’re doing to improve ray tracing in Lumion, we’ve outlined some of the technologies we’re integrating into the upcoming version in this behind the scenes article.
