Time-saving tips for crafting landscapes with Lumion
Effortless realistic environments
You may think that crafting a render of a house in the midst of a dense, forest environment, as depicted above, would demand a significant time investment. However, that's far from the truth.
Lumion's intuitive landscape tools give architects and designers access to a series of features that speed up the workflow, making it possible to sculpt terrains in a heartbeat. Combine this with the extensive collection of high-quality nature assets included in the Lumion library, and you have a wealth of creative options for adding context and atmosphere to a scene, right at your fingertips.

This is a great example of how Lumion can help you create high-quality renders rapidly, without compromising on quality.
Minh's 8 top tips
So, what are Minh’s top tips for creating realistic landscapes in Lumion?
Model as you render: import your model using the LiveSync plugin, so you can make changes in your CAD software and have them reflected immediately in Lumion.
Sculpt the terrain: make use of Lumion’s landscape tools to quickly and easily sculpt and shape the surrounding landscape.
Tweak the materials: adjust the sun position to see them in different lighting and customize textures to your exact specifications in the materials editor.
Make use of effects: change the natural lighting in the scene using the sun effect, then reset the color correction and tint. Easily change the colors of an entire layer of vegetation using the autumn colors effect.
Add lifelike landscape materials: heighten the sense of realism in your landscape by adding natural-looking grass and ground materials, and adjusting the settings to your liking.
Save time with the mass and cluster placement tools: include vegetation with a sweep of the mouse using the intuitive mouse and cluster placement tools. Surround your building with multiple randomized trees and plants then make quick refinements to achieve a more natural look.
Incorporate highly realistic plants: including fine-detail plants in the right places can help a landscape look just like the real thing. Mass placement again offers an easy way to sprinkle multiple fine-detail nature items throughout the scene.
Turn on reflections: reflections instantly make a scene feel real. Add reflection planes and increase the reflectivity of your glass material to see your landscape reflected in your building’s windows.
