Every project needs a starting point. In Lumion Pro, that's a template.
Forest, beach, city, suburbs and a few more. Pick one and you've already got an environment, a sky, and a mood to work against before you've touched anything.
Then bring in your model. LiveSync connects Lumion Pro to SketchUp, Revit, Rhino and the other tools you already use, so your geometry arrives with its materials attached. Keep modeling with Lumion Pro open and your changes land here as you make them.
The built-in tutorial covers the controls in a couple of minutes. If you'd rather navigate the way you do in SketchUp, Revit or Rhino, you can switch to those controls in Settings.

Before you capture an image, decide what you want to show.
A couple of saved camera angles will steer everything that follows and keep you from detailing corners nobody will ever see.
In Photo Mode, position the camera and click to store the shot. Aspect ratios, grid overlays and focal length controls are all there to help you compose something that holds up.
Two shots is plenty to begin with. One wide exterior, one warm interior.

Here's where it gets fun.
Lumion's library holds thousands of ready-made models, and the placement tools fill a site in minutes rather than hours.

Drop single objects exactly where you want them. Scatter trees and shrubs across an area you draw, or run them along a line for hedges and street planting. Pick up to 20 items at once, save the selection, and load it straight into your next project.
Search by name or by tag, and star anything you'll want again so it lands in your favorites. Give vegetation, entourage and furniture their own layers and even a busy scene stays easy to manage.
Line lights and spotlights do most of the work indoors. Drop the sun low while you're placing them so you can see what each one is actually doing, then fine-tune once the wider atmosphere is in place.

Applying materials is the point when a model starts looking like a building.
Assign them straight onto your geometry and adjust reflectivity, roughness and texture until it looks right. Everything's sorted into folders, so finding the seamless concrete you had in mind takes seconds.

The Pattern Editor gives a texture actual structure. Custom timber floorboards, hexagonal tiles, brick coursing. It takes seconds, and it holds up close to the camera.
Upload a photo to Lumion Cloud and it'll build a full PBR material from it, with extra maps for realism. Download them, drop them into the matching slots in Lumion Pro, and save the result to your custom materials.

Same scene, completely different feeling. That's what effects do.
Start with Real Skies and move the sun until the shadows fall where you want them. Switch on ray tracing and your reflections, shadows and bounced light all start behaving the way they should.

A little volumetric fog adds depth and makes a scene feel bigger than it is. Color correction pulls the everything together, and you can grade it with one of Lumion's LUTs or by importing your own.
Found a look you like? Save it as a custom style. Save the whole project as a template and your next one starts half-built, with the environment, effects and cameras already in place.

Now for the easy part.
Your saved shots sit in photo sets along the bottom of the screen. When you render, send out a single image or the whole set in one go.

Render extra output maps or turn on the AI upscaler to hit full resolution in a fraction of the render time.
Use the AI image enhancer in Lumion Cloud to refine your image with different times of day, seasons, or to explore more creative directions.
