Landscape designCommunicate the life and beauty of your landscape designs
Breathe life into your 3D landscape designs
As a landscape designer, properly communicating your project to a client, a colleague, or even the public can be key to its success.
And by adding Lumion as your landscape rendering software, you can turn your 3D landscape design models into beautiful results and support all of your design communications, whether to colleagues, stakeholders and even local communities.
Lumion is based on the principle of fast and intuitive rendering, making it the ideal program for any landscape designer who needs results quickly and doesn’t have time for specialized, formal training.
Living landscape designs. Real beauty.
Lumion is 3D rendering software built on the idea of reducing the effort needed on your end to create beautiful, compelling renders of your landscape design projects. As a result, you can find an intuitive, stress-free environment that streamlines the process of creating images, videos and 360 panoramas from your 3D landscape models.
To start, Lumion is compatible with all of the major CAD and 3D modeling programs. Simply import your 3D model into the easy-to-navigate Lumion project editor, and begin creating a scene and adding effects to create a photorealistic or conceptual look. The process is simple, helping you unleash creativity when showing your vision for the project, and rendering is fast, letting you re-render any last-minute updates without breaking a sweat.
From landscape design to beautiful render in 3 steps
1. Import a model of your landscape design
Lumion is compatible with all major 3D modeling file types and CAD software programs, so no matter the software you use, you can import your landscape model in only seconds. If you need to modify the model design later on, even after you’ve started working in Lumion, you can re-import the model and it’ll update immediately, without losing any progress to your Lumion project.
Additionally, you can create a real-time link between Lumion and several popular 3D modeling programs, including SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD, Rhino and Vectorworks. With Lumion LiveSync, you can model and render simultaneously, and visualize as you design.
2. Create a scene around your 3D model
After importing your landscape design model, the next step is to sculpt a landscape that will serve as the context for your landscape design. Perhaps there are mountains in the distance or a desert surrounding the design, or you need to show it in front of a luxury private residence or on top of an urban rooftop terrace.
You can furnish the scene with finely detailed nature objects (trees and plants), people, cars, outdoor furniture and more from the 6,900+ items in Lumion’s object library. With 1,350+ customizable, high-quality materials, you can then easily texture the surfaces of your 3D model (grasses, paths, roads, building walls and roofs, water and more).
3. Render images, videos and panoramas
The last step is to add photo, video or panorama effects and quickly render beautiful results! With over 60 effects, you can instantly optimize the look and feel of your renders. Show the building on a rainy day or during a spectacular sunset. Highlight the outlines of the landscape. Animate doors opening or cars and people moving. There are nearly infinite options, and the only limitation is your imagination.
Once you’re ready to render, the rendering process takes minutes for images and hours for videos, giving you a knockout result faster than ever before.
